Hi! First of all, thanks for reading or subscribing. If you’re here, you may already be a follower of The Experience Hound on Instagram. As much as I love that account and interacting with people through it, I find Instagram to be a frustrating medium for the sort of content I like to share - I am a visual person but I am much more interested in sharing words with you all rather than some photo I snapped of a roast chicken at dinner last Thursday. The pressure to get photo content takes the joy out of posting for me, plus, you can only include so many words on there!
So here I am, and am very excited to be starting this new chapter of The Experience Hound with you all. This will include all of my usual content and more: restaurant reviews, favorite lists, recipe recommendations and stories, and really anything else I feel I must share with the world.
Now, a little bit about me…
I’m a 26 year old who has living in New York City for over three years. I have a background in creative writing and eyes way bigger than my stomach. I began my Instagram in 2021 as a private account with no real vision in mind. I started sharing hosting tips, life hacks, morning matcha comparisons, daily pick-me-ups, and as more friends began to follow, I started to notice a distinct interest in my restaurant recommendations. So I focused on that, and have had so much fun trying and re-trying and exploring the boundless NYC culinary scene, plus other locations around the world. Restaurants to me are a sum of many parts: the company, the food, the service, the ambience, the design, the crowd, the location, and an appreciation for the staff who make it all possible. I will painstakingly research the vibe of a restaurant before I land on trying it, and I live in fear of florescent lighting. I love a martini, an excellent roast chicken, seasonally rotating menus, natural wine, and the rare but exciting appearance of pavlova on a dessert menu.
Truly, nothing makes me happier than sharing my knowledge with family and friends, and I love when someone asks me for help in creating their own plans and especially travels! Researching this is a joy for me, so here my project begins and I’m excited for the opportunities that this larger format can provide.
Thanks for being here!
xx Alexa (The Experience Hound)
